As per bp’s Energy Outlook 2019, India accounts for more than a quarter of global primary energy demand growth between 2017-2040. Gas is expected to grow at 5.5% p.a. in India vis-à-vis 1.7% p.a. globally over this period. In addition to growing energy from renewables, India aspires to increase the penetration of gas as a cleaner fuel in the energy mix from the current 6.5% to 15%.
